Final lap

Well you are actually feeling the effects of this final lap. How does that Murphy law statment go? Hmmm I certainly feel like thats happening to me now.
Had a meeting with the guys to print my cd for me aswell as the cd cover. The soft copy looks fabulous, but I would love to have PRINTED!! Ahhh. Breathe Jillian...whooosahhh!!

So yesterday went to sbcs (san fdo) and wrapped up the documentary according to recommendation from those I asked to listen to my project. Thanks again guys!! Spent atleast 6 hours, it was worth it. So I am pleased honestly. My only worry is that those(mainly my classmates) that listen to it on "D Day" truly appreciate it. As many of them may not sit within my intended target audience. Fingers crossed. We'll see.

May not do much today except start the eval paper later on tonight as I am on the job at the moment...so until. Stay Bless!!

Well it has been one of those weeks. It seems when you think you are closer to the finish line you are so far away. I did some editing, day before at San Fernando branch, but it was only when I got home and played the cd I burnt for Ms Sampson on my stereo that I realized it had some areas that needed rectifying. I wasn’t too pleased really. So it was back to editing today.
As for the class Ms Sampson called today well it was ok, and we were subtly reminded that we are far from over.
Ms Sampson gave us the guideline as to what is expected of and from us within the next two weeks. I intend to get it all correct because I don’t want to repeat a thing. Nothing!! I need a beak, we all do.
And it would seem as well that I hiring the printing services of Arc Media (a small multimedia company) from San Fernando may not work in my favor entirely. So I have meeting with them today, so we shall see how much better they can make their services. I am so tired now.
Most recent update: as of last night right after classes I began my evaluation and analysis report, referred as Assignment #3, which is due June 10th. I also completed my power point presentation which I would like to have running continuously on the day of screen and displaying.
Just wrapped up work and I am about to head San Fernando SBCS to get cracking on reaching the end of this radio documentary. It was fun whilst it lasted.

Ok ... Good day!! Had one of those weeks(psst Jillain no venting).

Anyway saw my lecturer on Wednesday , everything seems ok for now. Progressing nicely.

Did a bit of editing yesterday and today.....aiming to pull off the rest tomorrow(God Willing).

Honestly that is it for now.

Well did some editing at school today...Port Of Spain. See I am committed...just imagine on my day off I still ventured to the north to do my project. :) Anyway I am now searching for some sound FX. So until we connect again...bless!

Seven thirty, I have got to go. Finally I did the capturing process of my interview with Bro Valentino....AGAIN!! Also feel kind of pleased with the initial editing aswell so I am gone for now.

God willing I will be back tomorrow to take care of part two of the second to last stage of this media project.

Well guess what was the smart thing I did today?

Ohhh my goodness!

I could scream and curse!!But I will be nice on this blog, believe me though I spoke in some serious french in front of my PC awhile ago. No lie!! Because for some strange and stupid reason I deleted the stuff I captured weeks ago from my hardrive....yeah smart I know. Amen I did not recorded over the old tapes....I would have died!

So besides having started the editing for my documentary,the first stage of it, atleast I could do other things aswell, whilst I sort the boo boo.

Anyway its back to work because I am not staying in town to late!! No company to travel down to San Fernando!!

I'mmm back

Ok Ok I know it has been a long time since I updated my blog. It was a combination of many things. Once again the lack of internet, some say that isn’t a good enough excuse. And you maybe right, but note I said a combination. I’ve been extremely strapped when it comes to work over the past few weeks. Yeah I have internet at work but, not enough to sit leisurely behind a PC and update my blog. Not that fortunate. Especially when you have all of Trinidad and maybe calling to qualify for our most recent competition at Ebony 104 - You can win $1041.00 daily.
But as of today it the stakes have raised….$10410.00. More pressure!! The sad thing is I can’t participate in that money giveaway.
Anyway after my first meeting with Ms. Sampson I left there comfortable with the approach I proposed for this project. As I mentioned to my lecturer I made an effort a week before this meeting to capture my recorded audio interview with Bro. Valentino to a PC thence to my hard drive, where it sits comfortably. However, when I got home that night after capturing, (because now I was so eager to edit), I was again reminded that my laptop was at its last and a small farewell ceremony should be organized. Why do I say this? Well when I tried playing the recorded audio on my beloved laptop it sounded like a scratched CD. Panic followed but I was advised this was due to my lack of sufficient memory and space on my laptop hard drive, it gave that alien sound. So now I have no other choice but to head to the San Fernando Branch of my beloved school to push in some long hours editing there in that below normal temperature room.

Back to the meeting with Ms. Sampson, well I was offered some advice as to various avenues I could take for this media project. So we shall see.

Oh finally I received the release form from Bro. Valentino giving me permission to use his music, which he gave me verbally already, but I guess all in efforts to maintain protocol for this media project I prepared a release. I have yet to receive the documented permission from the kind folks at COTT, they said tomorrow or sometime this week, I could pass to collect. Yipee!!

My goodness one would think it should be so easy to get a spear moment at job to use the production studio to record the narration for this project. Geez!! It isn’t in any form or the other. So that’s another hurdle I encountered of recent.

Maybe I may get to use the studio at my second job (Belgroves). Hey after all they should do this willingly to assist me, as they are already paying me chick feed for jobs I do for them. Hmm that’s another story.

Ok Ok so I am here at school I tried to place another blog awhile ago and NOTHING!! I was informed by my fellow classmates who are sitting across the room busily working on their media project) that is seems that one cannot place a blog from certain PCs in this Lab. Great now I know. That’s why it seemed as though I placed a blog and nothing came up. So Ms Sampson….it wasn’t me!!

So my fellow bloggers of my media class, that’s where it stands for now with reference to the media project.

Should have more information by weekend (God willing). Fingers crossed!!

Quiet on this front

Well here I am again...at my mama's uterlizing the internet. Lol
Let's see..hmmm!! What is there to report? Nothing much this week as I was ill for atleast four days,flat in bed for two of those days.Still awaiting the feedback from Brother Valentino.
Last night I ran over my script again, to see if I could include more data to make my piece into a 2-piece documentary. Ive certainly got sufficent music but not enough narration.

Just a bit annoyed

Well I was counting on a friend to take my release to Brother Valentino and possibly have it back by Monday , but he just informed me that he can't, because he isnt heading up there today.
So that just throws me off. Maybe I should just journey up Grande by myself. Mummy always says do things myself. Yipee another trip to S Grande.

Oh the release(just incase you are wondering what that is) gives me permission from Brother Valentino to use his songs in this documentary.

Anyway I got called out to work so I am at the station today..so there goes my free day. Can't complain though ...I am blessed!

Presentation

Well last night I presented the proposal to my class. I can say from the reaction of class mates it was a decent idea. At the end of the presentation I received 2 questions from classmates.
One classmate even suggested to possibly do the documentary in 2 parts. Overall pretty good. I just pray my lecturer feels the same

This week events

Ok here is my week of activities in one blog, as I have mentioned before the Internet is not easily accessible to me, so this is one of the opportune time to updat my blog. I am just about to go on air here at Ebony so let me get down to it, got 20 minutes.

Nothing to heavy took place this week as I have been primarily focusing on writing my proposal, and script to be presented this coming Wednesday the 25th March. That's going pretty well, no complaints there.

Wednesday the 19th of this month I was scheduled to attend a live performance of Brother Valentino at the Mas Camp pub, but because of late planning and my location(down South) I could not attend. There was an opportunity lost! Anyway as I planned weeks ago on Saturday 22nd March(yesterday) I journeyed to Sande Grande to conduct my 1st interview with Brother Valentino. My good friend Marcus Baptiste gave me a list to Sande Grande as he was due to lecuter a pan class in that area(thank god). The interview lasted 2hours, going through the beginings of his career to what he is up to at present. The artiste and I sat in his porch and embrassed the natural sounds around us. It was a good day. The calypsonian gave me a couple recordings of live performances he did...so it was a totally bad thing that I was not able to attend the performance at the Mas Camp Pub. He did inform me though that next month he would be performing at the same venue pretty soon, so I would ge that opportunity to see him perform and record him again.

It would be safe to say that yesterday was indeed a productive day for me pertaining to the media project.

Listening to Radio Documentary

Today I am at my mother's house, using the internet listening to a couple radio documentaries, learning how to put it together. Interesting pieces indeed, giving me tons of ideas as to how it should be done. Not bad! I now have alot to work with.

Creating Questions

Ask I blog I am pulling infor from a bio of the artist I researched to put together my interview questions. This is going to be a long night. Keeping in mind it is Friday!! Ah well it is all for a good

Today I visited my old work place-Radio Trinibago 94.7fm and retrieved my cd collections in which I have atleast four of Bro Valentinos CD's. So I am about to select the songs I want to use in the documentary. Ofcourse "Life is Stage"

After throwing the idea off a few of my friends and collegues as to my new media project idea(this time around, as I changed my mind so many times), I made calls. However it still wasnt that easy as I was not torn between two Icons within the Calypso Fraternity I was to choose from and place the story into reality. It proved difficult during the Carnival Season to meet with either Singing Francine or Bro Valentino, so I had brief phone calls with both artists. After tirelessly interrogating those I knew within and out of the art form as to which artist peeked their interest more. It was then within the 1st week of March I conducted a lengthy conversation with Bro Valentino and he agreed to welcome me into his home to conduct the interview.
